1) Take paper and crumple it up into a ball then smooth it out
2) Take paper and color on it
3) Take paper and rip it or cut it up into pieces
The color, size, and texture of the paper changes but it is still paper

1) Put a piece of ice in a cup/beaker & let it melt
Ask whether this is a physical change or a chemical change - - it's a physical change because it has only changed its state of matter, NOT its physical properties. Ice is just frozen water.

Materials Needed:
- Whole milk
- Liquid dish detergent
- Toothpick
- Paper plate
- Food coloring
STEPS:

- Pour some milk onto the paper plate so that the bottom is covered
- Add drops of food coloring- - one at a time in different places
- Dip toothpick into dish detergent and use toothpick to put a drop of the dish detergent into the milk in the plate. Hold it there for a few seconds. Don't stir. Take it out and put it into a different spot in the milk.
- Watch what happens!
- Simple explanation: the dye is repulsed (it moves away) because the dish detergent is reacting with the milk fat in the milk and breaking it up. The dye lets you see what is happening.
- More complex explanation: like other oils, milk fat is a non-polar molecule that does not dissolve in water. When the soap is added, the non-polar (hydrophobic) portion of the soap break up and collect the non-polar fat molecules. The soap molecules move around trying to connect to the fat molecules. Eventually when the soap becomes evenly mixed with the milk, the reaction slows down, then stops.
