Materials needed:
- lemon juice
- paint brushes or cotton swabs
- cups
- paper
- hair dryer/exposed light bulb/stove/sunny window (any one of these should work)

STEP 1: Pour some lemon juice into a cup. By dipping the paint brushes or cotton swabs into the lemon juice, students can write notes or draw pictures for themselves, each other, or a family member. When the lemon juice dries it will be virtually invisible.
STEP 2: Reveal the hidden message or picture by holding the paper next to a hair dryer that is turned on high heat, an exposed light bulb, over a warm stove, or in a sunny window. What is needed is HEAT. This is the chemical reaction . Lemon juice contains an organic acid. When it is heated the acid decomposes and only the carbon remains on the paper. That is what you see!
