Using the cutout pictures model a very simple pattern such as: heart, leaf, heart , leaf, heart and ask, "What comes next?" Hopefully your students will respond, "Leaf!" Try one a little harder such as: heart, heart, leaf, heart, heart, leaf, then ask, "What comes next?" Hopefully your students will respond, "Heart!" Give each pair of students cutout pictures of their own and have them take turns making patterns and guessing what would continue the pattern.
Students can make bracelets/necklaces for themselves, friends or family members using their sequencing skills. Give each student a length of string or yarn with a knot tied at one end. Using colored beads ask them to start a color pattern that repeats several times. If necessary, help them knot the two ends together when they are finished.
