The Library Media Specialist will
- oversee all operations of the media center
- ensure the media center is a center for student learning, a resource center, and research facility
- teach library skills and computer skills to grades K - 6
- work with professional library staff, faculty, and administrators to integrate information literacy skills into the curriculum
- serve as an instructional partner with teachers
- initiate collaborative projects and activities with teachers relating to media resources
- plan and conduct programs of instruction in research techniques
- enlist staff participation in the selection process and evaluation
- provide technological access to information
- prepare instructional programs collaboratively with teachers
- conduct staff development courses
- supervise staff and volunteers
- participate in curriculum development committees
- work with students and teachers in reading, writing, viewing, and listening
- inform teachers of new services
- help students and teachers in locating and selecting media
- serve as technology and audiovisual technician
- check in and check out books
- shelve materials
- coordinate student STAR and NDSA testing
- order new materials
- catalog and process new books
- conduct yearly inventory
- complete frequent weeding
