- “We expect students to take proper care of library books used in school and at home. The cost of these items continues to increase considerably each year. If excessive wear or damage is done to library books, students may be held accountable for charges. There will be a minimum fee of $15.00/book that is damaged, lost, or not returned.”--from the Mapleton Elementary School Parent-Student Handbook, 2016-2017
- There are no fees for overdue books unless lost or not returned.
- Student with overdue books will not check out any additional books until books are returned or replacement cost has been paid.
- Any item that is 20 days overdue is considered lost and the student will be charged accordingly.
- If lost books are found, students will receive a full refund.
- If students are unable to locate or pay for lost or damaged books, they will “work off” their fine by assisting in the library 1 minute for every $1 owed.
