For standard nine, the focus is on helping students understand careers and the differing career skills. These resources are important to me to help students gain career knowledge, engage in education, and aid in helping produce employability skills. I have a variety of career materials and activities, however, I chose the four below because they offer the best experiences that are unique. Meaning the career information is presented in four different ways, so the students can have the opportunity to truly understand the material. This career unit which I pulled these resources from is coordinated and sequenced to promote and support the career decision-making of students while aligning to Illinois standards. This specific unit, where this information is pulled from, is taught to freshmen so they can have a general understanding, so as they get older, they can grasp those larger topics of career readiness and employability skills. As the students progress through school, they can create a personalized career plan where they can reflect on their interests, pick the classes that best align with them, and plan for future education or certifications needed. Overall, these materials are a great foundational step for students to start to understand the importance of career development.
