This program of study is a great example of the second CTE standard of sequencing and articulation within an agriculture classroom. This illustrated document is a great way for students to understand their path in agriculture through different topics. Students can use this to build on their understanding and enhance learning while allowing for the opportunity for continual interest. In this specific document, my courses offered are broken down into three sections. This includes plant and ecological science, animal and veterinary science, and agricultural mechanics and technology. From these pathways, students can pick which class interests them the most. More importantly, this allows them to visualize their entire high school class plan if they desire. This specific document will be revised every school year to make sure all updates to the courses are reflected in this document. This program of study includes a sequence of courses that starts at the foundation and builds to the advanced capstone classes. There are also multiple entry and exit points, which give the students the ability to fit agriculture classes they want into their class schedule. Overall, this is a great tool for both the students and teachers to understand how classes within a program can build on each other. I find this helpful so I can adjust my curriculum to better serve the students who have followed the plan and have that background knowledge. This can allow me, as the teacher, to dive deeper into some more intense topics because I know that students have a foundational understanding.
