For standard 12, I chose some artifacts I have collected from students during my student teaching.. There is a large variety of student work represented here. There is an Engineering Design Process Dorrstep that a student created that looks like the Nike logo and holds doors of any size open. Two of my horticulture students are showing off their round Halloween floral arrangement, where they got to prick their color scheme and floral stems. There is a poster that depicts the history of floral arrangements in the Early American Era. At the bottom, there is a floral arrangement created with tissue paper flowers to show the different shapes a floral arrangement can have. Lastly, there is a crossword that a student created by hand that teaches other students about cut flower care key terms. These materials adhere to all federal, state, and local privacy laws for data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting. Throughout student teaching, valid and reliable evidence was timely and accurately collected from a variety of students. These students had differing ages, backgrounds, school cultures, and prior knowledge about these topics. Overall, these materials collected from students are a great example of standard 12.
The SOAP note attached is a great example of how I can demonstrate my understanding of standard 12. This note is an in-depth reflection of my first full day of teaching at Husker High School Days. This event allowed my peers and me to teach for 6 periods straight to a total of 250 middle school and high school students. Overall, the event was a great opportunity, but reflection is always necessary, so there can be continuous improvement. This SOAP note covers topics like subjective, observation, assessing, planning, challenges, and further learning. This note is shared in an easy-to-understand format with students, parents/guardians, partners, and the public so community members can see my continuous growth and evaluation as a teacher. I am utilizing feedback I have received from three current agricultural educators who sat in my room for the duration of the day. This feedback and reflection are so important to further my career, but also to my agricultural program. Making sure that I utilize reflection and feedback will help me grow as a teacher and, in turn, the CTE program. Overall, this in-depth reflection is a great show of how I can successfully implement standard 12.
