I am from a cattle backgrounding operation and row crop farm on the outskirts of the small town of Payson, Illinois. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During my time at UNL, I was active in many different organizations, which I joined to enhance and widen my knowledge in agriculture.
My extracurriculars included being a member of the ALEC Teacher Prep Club, a member of the UNL Equestrian Team, and the Director of Ritual Education and Mental Health Committee at Alpha Omicron Pi. The jobs I worked in college ranged from being a technician at the university greenhouses, having an assistant teacher role at the UNL Children's Center, to interning at the Cook County Farm Bureau, Thrive After School Program, and Dearwester Grain Services.
I was able to have a variety of different opportunities while in college. I volunteered at the Nebraska State FFA Convention and Illinois State FFA Convention, graded Nebraska Proficiencies and Agriscience Applications, taught and observed at a multitude of ag programs and elementary classes throughout the Midwest, wrote and implemented a grant project, and studied agriculture abroad in Spain and France.
Overall, I am excited to use my background while gaining more experience as I start my teaching career. I believe there is always more to learn and hope to pass that trait on to the students who walk through my door!
