This advisory committee outline is a great example of an artifact for standard 8. This is a rough draft for all things advisory committee and is a starting point for my committee. This group of people will review what I have in this outline, add ideas they have, and review the expectations. This advisory committee is a partnership structure and showcases the wide variety of activities these committee members should be engaged in to support the program. These committee members are a diverse representation of community members, as stated in the outline. Members are from differing perspectives, including employers from small, medium, and large businesses; industry representatives; community, workforce, and economic development agencies; and other education stakeholders like parents or other teachers. The different activities that committee members will be responsible for differ each week, however, the basics are listed on the outline. These include identifying, validating, and reviewing curriculum, identifying appropriate assessments and recognized postsecondary credentials, and evaluating facilities, equipment, technology, and materials to ensure consistency with industry standards. An advisory committee is a great asset for the teacher, students, and community and can provide funds that offer support to meet program of study goals. Advisory committees are a great tool to utilize to truly create a high-quality CTE.
