Student Teaching Weekly Report_Maiers - P2.pdfThis unit plan is the curriculum I taught during my Horticulture class. This scope & sequence covers lessons, activities, and different formative and summative assessments. This curriculum covers the topics of tree ID, corsages, color schemes, floral ID, and much more. Regarding lessons, I have planned to do a variety of engaging activities. Also, I plan to utilize reviews so students can understand these lessons and can build on the ones that are to come in the next unit. I am following the AFNR Content Standards updated in 2024 for all of my agricultural classes, including Horticulture, which utilizes the Plant Systems standard. This curriculum plan shows my ability to produce material and educate students using a standards-aligned and integrated curriculum. This material, just like all of my others, gets regularly updated and reanalyzed when needed to make sure each lesson is aligned with standards as they continue to change and shift. Also, this is a great way to stay on top of industry advances and the changing needs and demands of students. This process can happen at any time, but at the maximum, each unit will get revised every three years. This is a great example of the first standard because it bases the curriculum on industry-validated technical standards, allowing students to apply integrated knowledge and skills in authentic scenarios. Lastly, this course is a part of my curriculum that is posted online, so it is publicly available and easily accessible for students, guardians, and the community to view.

These materials cover the topics of the different key ideas, equipment, and processes of a plasma cutter. The lesson and skill sheet attached cover the specific setup, position, angle, and travel speed that were selected to follow the 2024 AFNR Power, Structural, and Technical Systems Standards. I have pulled three specific standards that show the standard-aligned and integrated curriculum. PST.01.02.02.c. is to design a process to implement the safe use of AFNR-related tools, machinery, and equipment. This can be seen in the lesson when I demo the process and discuss all of the specific aspects of safety to remember when using a plasma cutter. PST.02.02.01.b. is to perform pre-operation inspections, start-up, and shut-down procedures on equipment, machinery, and power units as specified in the manufacturer’s manuals. This can be seen in the first step of this lesson, where I will go over the specifics of a plasma cutter, like air, ground clamp, and electricity, and how to attach all of these items correctly. Another standard that relates to this specific lesson is PST.04.03.01.c. This is utilizing tools and equipment necessary for site preparation, surveying, and site layout. This standard can be seen when the teacher and students evaluate the shop and check for safety hazards. This material incorporates employability skill standards that help students succeed in the workplace, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and workplace etiquette.
