Railing Object
Railing object is included in several tools such as Railing, Edge To Railing and Stair tools.
Railing object is a very comprehensive and versatile tool for creating custom railings, which can be assembled from the following parts:
- Railing - is a top handrail
- Sub-Rail - is a rail or rails between the upper handrail and the ground
- Posts - are usually placed in the corners of the rail segments
- Sub-Posts - are usually placed inside the segments of the rail
- Filling - is a solid surface inside of rail
- Railing Preset - library of railing object parameters
- High - top level of the railing
- Low - lowest level of the railing
- Offset - side shift of the railing
- Railing - to enable handrail
- Size - handrail profile dimension
- Extend - extension on beginning and the end of the handrail
- Sub-Rail - to enable supporting rails
- Size - sub-rail profile dimension
- Extend - sub-rail extension
- High Drift - vertical shift of the highest sub-rail
- Low Drift - vertical shift of the lowest sub-rail
- Count - total count of sub-rails
- Posts - to enable corner posts
- L-Shape - the post will be L-shaped with a hook on the bottom
- Size - post profile dimension
- Placement - defines how posts are distributed along the rail
- Sub-Posts - to enable supporting posts
- L-Shape - the sub-post will be L-shaped with a hook on the bottom
- Segment Step - the lower sub-post level is aligned with the lowest point of the incident rail segment
- Size - sub-post profile dimension
- Placement - defines how posts are distributed along the rail
- High Drift - vertical shift of the top of the sub-post
- Low Drift - vertical shift of the bottom of the sub-post
- Start-End Drift - shift along the rail of the sub-post on beginning and the end the rail segment
- Divide - defines the method of distribution of sub-posts along rail segment
- Distance (aprox) - approximate distance between sub-posts (Absolute mode)
- Count - total count of sub-posts per segment (Relative mode)
- Filling - to enable filling parts along rail segments
- Thickness - filling thickness (if thickness is zero only flat polygon is generated)
- Filling H - different methods how fillings are distributed horizontally (along rail)
- Filling V - different methods how fillings are distributed vertically (from ground to handrail)
- High Drift - vertical shift of the top of the filling
- Low Drift - vertical shift of the bottom of the filling
- Start-End Drift - shift along the rail of the filling on beginning and the end the rail segment

The railing object can be created using the following modes:

Edge To Railing
Edge To Railing
Edge To Railing is a tool based on the Edge Selection tool.
The railing object can be created at selected edges of polygons, edges of nurbs surfaces and curve segments.
