The Military Geography of the ex-Yugoslavia

I'm going to recreate this map below using modern GIS techniques and software.

This is not perfect, I have some work to do to make it perfect, but I learned how to use the profile plot tool, how to extract a raster to a shapefile, and hopefully can show how to use the neutral lay of the land (the military geography= in order to predict future military strategy. I had to leave forests and swamps off because I could not find data for that in a reasonable amount of time. I also updated some of the names and data so that I could use it today. Copying past great works of cartography, such as the CIA's work here in the 1990's is a great way to learn and grow as a cartographer and GIS analyst.
