My blog tracking social change in the United States and the world through the weird world of the new Gilded and Progressive Ages; what I called the Anodized Age after the iPod's classic and epoch defining barely aluminum casing, which similar to how a slight layer of gold gave a whole new fake layer of cool to wood varnish in the late 19th century, has defined the aesthetic of the early 21st.

My blog about farming...and...domestic extremism.

It's lighter than it sounds!

This is my blog on Croatian, Serbian, and Bosnian culture, geopolitics, and family history. I also focus on the genetics of the Western Balkans, issues of GIS and geography, and other important issues. That's why you can expect to find articles or scientific posters about the interactions of COVID-19 with Neanderthal DNA from a cave in Croatia; how war came to the Balkans 40,000 years ago; why we fight wars; the modern evolution of humans; how to find the church your ancestor went to over a century ago; the rise of Turkey as a regional heavyweight; and so many other topics related to the one BIG, messy, FAMILY spread out through the Balkans. It's a story of love, hate, ethnic conflict and genocide, music, culture, and so much more than the stereotypes we tend to gloss over with "Oh aren't there still wars going on over there?" I use maps, articles, social media, open-source intelligence (OSINT) and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), to hopefully make a small contribution to the understanding of this part of the world.
