Sebastian Maurycy Huczyński
Born in 1990. Graduated from the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, majoring in painting. In 2016, he graduated from the University of Wrocław, majoring in Art History.
Participant of individual exhibitions: Opole, Nysa, Wrocław, Gliwice, and collective exhibitions: Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Kraków, Krosno, Opole. Participated in the 29th National Review of Young Painting Promotions 2019, organized by the Art Galleries in Legnica. Participated in scientific conferences on art: Polish Art in the Northern and Western Lands from 1981 to the Present Day (Wrocław, 2016).
"The main area of my research is geometric abstraction as a carrier of the idea of a mathematical module through painting," says the artist. – “Processed reality can function as a metaphor, sign, symbol in a painting. I build my paintings from the simplest geometric figures: circles, squares, rectangles. A significant problem for me is the experience in the field of color, space, giving the painting strength in reception. My first fathers in painting are very important to me: the late Bolesław Polnar, Prof. Piotr Błażejewski, Prof. Jacek Jarczewski, to whom I owe a lot. Meeting with Wrocław structuralism during my studies changed my thinking about the structure itself and thinking about the painting. I experiment with unusual formats, tondos or triangular canvases, as well as in the technological aspect: e.g. combining plaster and paint. I also practice drawing and video art, where I combine elements taken from abstraction with reality.“
