Def: Verbs are doing words or words that describes an action or the state of an action.
Eg: Ram is walking; I was sleeping; Dogs bark; Sun shines brightly, etc.
Types: Verbs can be classified into two main classes:
i) Principal or Main verbs.
ii) Auxiliary or Helping Verbs.
i) Principal or Main verb: When a verb is used independently, then it is called Principal or main verb. Eg: Go, Walk, Sleep, Smile, etc.
ii) Auxiliary or Helping Verb: When a verb is used only to help other verbs to form voices, moods or tenses, it is called Auxiliary or Helping Verb.
Eg: Am, is, Are, Have, Has, Will, Shall, etc.
* Principal or Main verb can be further classified into two types. They are Transitive and Intransitive Verbs.
i) Transitive Verbs: Transitive Verbs are those that require an object to clear its sense.
Eg: I kicked the ball.
He ate an ice cream.
ii) Intransitive Verbs: Intransitive Verbs are those that do not require an object to clear its sense.
Eg: He walks.

* Auxiliary Verb: There are 12 auxiliary verbs and can be divided into three classes.

To be, To have, To do
Modal Aux.:-
Must, Ought, Can/ Could, May/ Might, Shall/ Should, Will/ Would
Semi Modals.:-
To need, To dare, Used (to)
