I am teaching a full TK, but am keeping kindergarten info on my website because some of the info overlaps. TK is considered the first year of a two year kindergarten program.

2023-2024 Updates are in progress. Note to self: check all links. Below link to Daily Schedule page for hmwk info. On Daily Schedule, add link to Phonemic Awareness Videos.

TK Schedule

7:55 Start time

9:00 Breakfast / Snacks  Breakfast is available in the cafeteria. Students are usually ready to go back to class after about 20 minutes. We go to recess at about 9:45, when other classes are no longer using the equipment.

11:05 Lunch: Students are usually finished eating by around 11:25. We go back to the classroom and pack up before starting recess. Students can bring lunch from home or have lunch from the cafeteria.  It is helpful to know of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. The office cannot provide teachers with allergy or other medical information.

12:15 Dismissal: Pick up is in front of the school. Adults must be listed on the child's Emergency Card. Bus riders must fill out an application through VUSD's transportation department. Please inquire in the office for information regarding the free after school care program.

General Information

Emergency Cards are important for keeping phone numbers and emergency contacts current. We are not allowed to release your child to anyone not listed on the card. For someone new to pick up your child, we need you to first inform us. When they arrive to campus, we ask them to check into the office and present id.

Bus Riders should take the bus every day (including the first day of school). If there is a change in transportation, please send a note or call the office. Someone needs to be waiting at the bus stop for the student. Bus information can be obtained in the office. Bus riders will need district issued transportation passes

Clothing: Please put names on jackets, sweaters, and other belongings. We recommend that kindergartners bring backpacks to school daily with a change of clothing in a zipper bag. Closed toe shoes are preferred. No flip-flops, please.

Homework suggestions are included in the weekly Parent Square post. Daily reading at home is important for your student’s success. Please consider getting a library card if you don’t already have one. Public library cards are free. You need a library card to access the numerous online resources for children and adults available here
