I will collect work samples on Wednesdays every Learning Period throughout the year to evaluate your student's progress. For each Learning Period, TK-8 students will be submitting examples of work from the core courses, as listed below. 6th-8th grade students enrolled in Choice Plus Academy, Edgenuity, or EdOptions Academy do not need to submit samples for those courses.
High school students enrolled in Edgenuity, Choice Plus Academy, Edmentum, or FuelEd do not need to submit work from those courses, as I will be downloading work directly from the online programs. However, high school students will need to submit work from all enrolled elective courses each Learning Period. For example, high school students completing a 5-unit PE course will need to submit a PE log every Learning Period on the Schoology platform.
Students in grades TK-8, please expect to submit at least 4 samples per Learning Period.
I will assign "I Can" statements for each of the 4 core courses (Math, Language Arts, Science, and History) that your student will focus on for the upcoming Learning Period.
I will be asking you to upload a sample from each of the core courses to the Google Classroom folder that demonstrates that your student is working on, or has mastered, at least one of the "I Can" statements that was assigned. You can also still send via text or email. For each work sample, please add a comment on what your student has been working on and how they are doing in the course.
Your Language Arts samples should demonstrate writing skills.
***High school students should expect to submit a sample from all of their courses for each Learning Period.***
High school students who are enrolled in programs with a PCA teacher attached to it (Choice Plus Academy and Edgenuity) do not need to prepare samples from those classes, as the teachers will prepare those to submit.
These samples should be work you are proud of. All work should be neat, using complete sentences. Math should show all work, and essays should be edited and submitted as a final version in the editing process.
SUBMIT WORK during our meetings, or scan/get a pic using your phone camera or CamScanner app, and then UPLOAD to the GOOGLE CLASSROOM. You can also still send to me via email, or via text.
See below for how to label each page of your work.
Examples of how your samples should be labeled:
