Teaching Textbooks were designed specifically for independent learners. They simply have more teaching/explanation than any other product on the market. We realized that independent learners needed a product that contains the maximum amount of teaching, so a Teaching Textbook, with its approximately 700 pages of text and 120 - 160 hours of teacher instruction on CD-ROM, is both a teacher and a textbook combined into one. And the CD-ROM teaching isn’t just abstract lectures either. There are also down-to-earth, audiovisual step-by-step explanations for every single one of the almost 3,500 problems in the book.
Using a Teaching Textbook is like having a friendly tutor available at the push of a button, but for only a fraction of the cost! Other products claim that they can be used without the assistance of a teacher, and this may or may not be true. But shouldn’t a truly ideal product for independent learners contain step-by-step teacher explanations for all those times when you might get stumped? We think so.

Right Start Mathematics is a unique, award-winning, hands-on program that de-emphasizes counting, uses visualization of quantities, and provides strategies and visual pictures for learning the facts. Understanding and problem solving are emphasized throughout the curriculum.
The primary learning tool is the AL Abacus, a specially designed two-sided abacus that is both kinesthetic and visual. The AL Abacus is grouped in fives and tens for quick recognition of quantities. The second side of the AL Abacus teaches place value to the thousands. Children develop visual strategies as they use this manipulative.
Practice is provided with math card games, minimizing review worksheets and eliminating stressful flash cards. These games provide interesting and varied repetition that is needed for the automatic responses to the facts. More importantly, these games provide an application for new information and create hours of fun learning math facts and concepts.
Starfall Education Foundation is a publicly supported charity, 501(c)(3). We create free and low-cost experiences whereby children can successfully learn through exploration.
On the Starfall website and in Starfall classrooms, children have fun while learning in an environment of collaboration, wonderment, and play. We teach through positive reinforcement to ensure children become confident, intrinsically motivated, and successful.
Math Mammoth - The aim of my books is first and foremost to explain math in very simple terms, yet rigorously, concentrating on helping students understand the actual concepts of math. I use visual models and exercises based on them a lot because they are pretty much equivalent to using manipulatives, and help children understand how math works. After working with visual models, students can then transition to the more abstract exercises.
The materials I've written are categorized into various series. The Blue Series and the Light Blue Series consist of worktexts that include both the instruction (the "text") and the exercises (the "work"), and thus are perfect for parents who don't know how to explain the math themselves. These worktexts are self-teaching or nearly so for most children. Also, no separate teacher's manual is needed because all the explanations are in the student's book. Like someone commented, the book does the teaching.
And that has been my goal all along: I imagine teaching a concept on a blackboard to a group of students, and try to put those ideas into a written form. So in essence it's me teaching through the books.
AdaptedMind was created by graduates of Stanford, Berkeley and Harvard to improve the way children learn. We aspire to bring a revolution to education, improving it by pushing the frontier in learning science.
Your child is unique. But the mathbooks and exercises your child does are the same as other children's. AdaptedMind creates a custom learning experience for your child. A learning experience that identifies your child's strengths and weaknesses, and delivers a curriculum and exercises that adapts to these needs. That's adaptive learning.
We created our curriculum in consultation with teachers, parents, and most importantly - children.
The result is a learning experience that significantly improves performance, guaranteed.

Since 2003, the AoPS online school has provided a unique learning experience carefully designed for outstanding students studying online. We offer a full math curriculum for middle and high school, introductory programming courses, and specialty courses to prepare students for particular math and science competitions. Most of our courses meet weekly for live sessions, and have a variety of types of weekly homework.
Live Instruction
The weekly class sessions are lively interactive discussions. Our online classroom allows all students to answer any instructor question and lets students ask questions at any time. Instructors decide which of these comments and questions to share with everyone and which to address privately. This flexibility allows teachers to guide public discussion while addressing individual student misconceptions as they occur.
Multiple Learning Avenues
Students learn in many different ways, so we make a variety of resources available. In addition to the live classes and weekly homework, each course employs some or all of the following:, Course message board for questions and discussions outside class time, Full transcript of each class session, for review and for students who miss class, AoPS textbooks, Supplementary videos, Instructional handouts, Practice contests, Classroom access outside class time for student-organized study sessions
So, you think math is boring and there is nothing much anyone can do to make it "un-boring"? You think the average person can't really ever understand math, and "Who needs it?" if you have a calculator in hand! Think Again!!
Introducing: Life of Fred Math
Never again hear the question which many math students have: "When are we ever gonna use this stuff?" or "Math is boring!" No other textbooks are like these. Each text is written in the style of a novel with a humorous story line. Each section tells part of the life of Fred Gauss and how, in the course of his life, he encounters the need for the math and then learns the methods. Tons of solved examples. Each hardcover textbook contains ALL of the material – more than most instructors cover in traditional classroom settings. Includes tons of proofs. Written by Dr. Stanley Schmidt with the intent to make math come alive with lots of humour, clear explanations, and silly illustrations that stick in the mind. The student will learn to think mathematically. Completion of this series prepares student for third year college math.

We developed ModMath because our son has both dyslexia and dysgraphia. So writing legibly is nearly impossible. And that makes acquiring new math skills difficult. If a student can’t read his own writing, or if the number columns don’t line up, how is he supposed to master math concepts like regrouping, long division, or multiplication with multiple digits, not to mention more complex concepts like algebra?
Our goal in creating an assistive technology was to make things easier not just for our son, but for any child that struggles with a learning disability or a physical disability.
Provide students with a virtual piece of graph paper, where they can set up math problems in a format that’s easily legible.
Provides students with a pencil-free platform for doing basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Allows older students to complete more complex math assignments, including fractions, square roots and algebraic equations.
The Wild Math Curriculum covers the typical math skills and standards taught in each grade and provides activities, lessons, and games so that you can take your math instruction outdoors! Each unit also has a list of math picture books and games that are perfect for playing outside in warm weather and inside in extreme weather or on those dark winter evenings.
