As a California Public Charter School our students are asked to participate in the following state standardized assessments based on grade level:
Grades 3 – 8: Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
Grade 11: Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)
Grades 5, 8 and 11: California Standards Test for Science (CAST)
Grades 5, 7, and 9: Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Your participation in these assessments helps ensure our ability to continue our programs.
Our window for participation for the SBAC/CAST is March through May. I will reach out to you and let you know the exact dates and locations for our area. Testing takes 2 to 3 half-days for each student, depending on their grade level and the number of tests the student needs to complete. Some students finish sooner, but we give a few hours per day time frame so students don’t feel rushed and have as much time as they need.
Often our families have questions or concerns about the SBAC/CAST assessments. At Pacific Coast Academy we want our families to feel informed about the assessments so they are prepared and feel more comfortable partaking.
We invite you to attend one of our parent information sessions just before, and during, the testing window, where we will cover frequently asked questions and answer any additional questions you may have. I will provide you the information on these sessions when the time approaches.
