What is Liminal Summers?

A show where nothing happens- until everything does.

Liminal Summers is a buddy-comedy focused on two twenty-somethings trying to find their place in the world.

And as long as that place is together, they're willing to face any hurdle life throws at them: Kaiju Pigeons, Mascot Fights, a Canadian Explorer...

Nothing Terry & Red can't handle.

Who are Terry & Red

Terry and Red are best mates and have been for quite some time. College roommates turned post-grad roomies, they like to do everything together.

Terry's a little anxious. He wants to do good in the world, and puts a bit too much pressure on himself to accomplish his goals. He shuts down in the face of conflict or uncomfortable moments and often lets his anxiety get in his own way.

Red balances Terry out. Red knows how to calm Terry down, but also accidentally winds Terry up when he gets them in stick situations.

Red is overconfident and has such a well-regulated nervous system that almost nothing phases him. He's got an "It'll all be okay!" attitude- even if the world is literally collapsing around them.

What is the Tone?

Liminal Summers is a weird and whacky comedy through and through. With elements of magic and sci-fi, it focuses on the physical and emotional reactions of Terry and Red to the world around them.

It goes back to a classic style of physical comedy we're all familiar with. The board artists and animators were instructed "If Lucille Ball could do it with her face, the expression is allowed on our characters!".

The comedy is grounded in reality with the occasional pushed feature, but relies heavily on timing, realistic physical gags, and the compasionate relationship between Terry and Red.

Building the Story Arc

We started with the idea: what if Red wasn't supposed to be at the job interview?

It kicked off our season with a bit of conflict, and a smidge of uncertainty of how our characters were supposed to work together, let alone split the work of one person.

But that led us to a place where our characters would have to grow in the face of whatever the stadium threw at them, while also finding their own in their roles. Terry learns he is good enough to be a hero, and Red winds up enjoying the gig far more than he expected. Turns out, he actually cares when things are exciting!

Character Descriptions

Terry

A go-getter and baseball fanatic thrilled to be close to the game and close to his best friend. Terry knows he's got big dreams and is going places- but until he figures out what those dreams are... and where those places may be... he'll stay happy working at Big Oil Stadium.

Voiced by Marcus Strong

Red

A great friend but not so great coworker. Red's self confidence often gets them into tricky situations. He'd rather be snacking on hot dogs than climbing the Big Oil Stadium corporate ladder. But he's willing to put in some work to help his best mate.

Voiced by Chad McKnight

Warner

Big Oil Stadium's Manager. Warner is former minor league player who longs for the glory days. He's just about as worn down as the stadium but he keeps it running with hopes that it'll sparkle again.

THAT Guy

A mystery. Known by none but feared by all. Extremely dangerous. DO NOT ENGAGE!

Quebec Smith

Historian. Adventurer. A true renaissance man. Smith leaps, falls, and romances his way through daring trials and tribulations, trying to drag Terry and Red into his world of epic adventures and mystery.

Marcus Strong - TERRY

Marcus Strong is an LA local stage, screen, and voice actor! When not busy playing pretend for a living and for fun- he's taking photos, traveling, and genuinely making the world a better place. He's not full of himself- Maddie wrote this bio for him until she gets a real one. And he really does make the world and Liminal Summers a better place.

Chad McKnight - RED

Chad McKnight is a NY based actor with a BA in Musical Theatre. However, his primary focus relies on being a self-certified expert in League of Legends. Most of his days are spent living life with an attitude Red would be quite proud of, enjoying food, games, sleep, and the friends that make it all worthwhile.

David Gallic - Warner

Full time actor, occasional trivia man, and seasonal Santa Claus - David Gallic is one of the funniest people in LA. The team knew immediately only one person could make Warner matter. And that was Tom Cruise. Of course we couldn't get Tom- so we brought in David instead! Thanks for lending your talents David!

Matt Zunich - THAT Guy

An accomplished voice actor, opera singer, and a prolific screenwriter, Matt was the perfect choice to bring THAT Guy to life. Who other than a wonderfully nice person to voice the most unlikeable character?
Matt co-founded the Los Angeles Ghostbusters, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting family charities like Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Seriously, we told you he was wonderfully nice.

Elan Garfias - Quebec Smith

Is he Canadian? No. But does he make Quebec Smith awesome? ABSOLUTELY. A trained voice actor and poet currently traversing the world with touring shows, Elan stopped back in LA to record Quebec for the Liminal team! We are thrilled to have him!

Kendell Byrd
EP 104 - Mary Anne

Kendell is a VO artist, writer, and theatre performer in LA. You can find her in projects liek Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, Barbie, Spider-Man 2, The Mighty Monsterwheelies, Final Fantasy VII, Zoo Pals ads and more! She can also be found in the credits of a few Netflix Animation projects both voicing and working on production!

Neethi Jelaji
EP 104 - Millie Scotch

Dragged into this by Maddie, Neethi agreed to come voice Millie only to have the the absolutely funniest time in the recording booth. She hasn't actually recorded yet, but Maddie knows there will be more laughter left on the cutting room floor than any other session so far!

Malakai Howard
EP 104 - Sal Ah.

Malakai Howard is an LA stage actor, VO artist, and all around goofball. He's voiced several small projects with griends but is excited to experience the start of something new! A musical theatre kid at heart, he hopes one day to be able to share his voice with as many people as he can reach!

As someone usually on the other side of the mic - voice directing- Maddie thought it might be fun to dust off her own acting chops and bring Jessica to life!

An esteemed actor of film and stage, Scott Seiffert has been seen across many short films and can be heard at least three blocks away in his neighborhood. Thrilled to be a part of the Liminal Summers Team for no money because his daughter said so, he brings the Announcer to life!

Editor, creative, and incredible scratch actor, Katie stepped into the booth to bring multiple voices alive, including one of our creepy twins and some fans in the stadium! Check out her work outside of Liminal Summers by seeing DreamWorks' "Forgotten Island" in theatres in September!
