As many people know, TikTok is a video-focused app where anyone can create content on any topic the individual wants with the choice of making the video 15 seconds, 60 seconds, or Three minutes. Recently the ability to post a 'story' is a new feature taking after many other social media apps.
Tiktok shares the same features as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Features they all have are the 'scrolling feature' on videos to keep people involved. Even the Netflix app has added a feature allowing people to preview shows and movies in the same scrolling form as Tiktok.
After taking an anonymous pole, teens from the age of 17-19 use Snapchat, Instagram, Tiktok, and Facebook. 5/5 people use Instagram and Snapchat, 3/5 use TikTok, and 2/5 use Facebook. One person said they never deleted any of the apps while two people said they have deleted TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. One person deleted Facebook. 40% said they spend over three hours on social media a day, 40% said they spend roughly two to three hours a day on social media, and the last 20% said one-two hours a day on social media. The overall app the teens said they spent the most time on was TikTik. 60% of teens use TikTok the most, while 20% use Snapchat, and the other 20% use Instagram
What attracts you to these apps? "They're easy to use and stay in contact with others"- anonymous "Entertainment", "Friends and Family", and "There interesting".
Many small businesses rely mainly on TikTok due to the ability to talk about their product in a video, show what the product does, voice-over, add pictures, pin videos on their feed, and much more.
