When people think about Covid-19 there are many things that come to mind, some may immediately think about the nearly three years of our lives it has taken over,
“It was hard not going out or being with friends.” Says twelve year old Jade ornelas, a 7th grade student at Erwin middle school.
Others may think about how happy they were to be with their families at home for so long, and for some people the word alone strikes fear in their minds.
It’s so hard to think that a virus that seems like nothing has control over our lives, we are just puppets in our new world where this deadly virus is the ruler and leader of everything we do.
From whether or not we can leave our house without a piece of cloth on our face, or the fact that everytime we leave our house we have the chance of bringing a death sentence to our family.
Covid-19 certainly had many impacts on society as a whole, it may have affected some drastically, changing their whole life, while some see it as a mere inconvenience. Elizabeth Tate a senior at Loveland high school when asked how she was personally affected by covid, she said “Nothing, I wasn’t affected.”
Some may say that they weren’t affected personally but they knew groups of people that suffered as a whole, like the school system for example.
The way the teaching aspect of school changed had a big impact, “I think transitioning the entire way you have learned and had been taught information for your entire school career, is really daunting.” Ms. Rottman says, a student teacher for the choirs at Loveland high school.
Some even believe that we were delayed in some ways educationally due to the time off from school. ¨ I think covid-19 has set our school system back about a year and at least from my experience i'm not as smart as i would've been going to school through that year, so i think it's a setback¨. It is truly hard to come back from something as big as a global pandemic, but it’s not impossible.
Although covid-19 has had a negative effect on a lot of people, Loveland highschool has done an excellent job of doing everything in their power to make our time in highschool as normal as humanly possible and make it have less of an affect on us mentally.
Without their effort we would still be online fully and continuing to slip farther and farther away from the social interaction we all crave.
Covid-19 is definitely far from over but it is nice to know we have a society that is trying hard to get it over with. And although it may take a while we are getting closer and closer to the end of this phase in our lives that covid has taken over.
As we move closer and closer to the lives we originally had that we crave and miss so much, we will never forget the impact we all suffered from due to this virus Covid-19.
