Project Smiley Day: Embracing Periods and Empowering Lives

Project Smiley Day is a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to promoting menstrual hygiene awareness and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation. Designed and led under the dynamic leadership of Project Director Joanna Jewel M, the implementation in rural areas of Wayanad involved a multi-faceted approach to menstrual hygiene awareness and has garnered immense praise and recognition both nationally and at the state level for our impactful work. Project Smiley Day was inaugurated by CK Ratnavalli, the Chairperson of Mananthavady Municipality, in the auspicious presence of Jacob Sebastian, the Vice Chairperson of Mananthavady Municipality, Project Director Joanna Jewel, and Foundation Executive Members Abhimanue JR and Aiswarya Lal on 29 April 2023 at Ondayangadi Health Sub Centre, Mananthavady, Wayanad 

 Our Mission:

 At Project Smiley Day, our mission is to empower individuals with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health confidently and hygienically. We believe that every person deserves access to comprehensive menstrual hygiene education and products without stigma or discrimination. 

• Educational Workshops: We conduct engaging workshops and seminars to educate individuals of all ages about menstrual health, and hygiene practices, and debunk myths and misconceptions.

• Distribution of Hygiene Kits: We provide menstrual hygiene kits containing essential products like sanitary pads, hygiene wipes, and informational pamphlets to ensure access to safe and hygienic menstruation.

• Community Outreach: Through our outreach programs, we collaborate with schools, communities, and healthcare providers to promote open conversations about menstruation and foster a supportive environment.

• Advocacy and Policy Reform: We advocate for policy changes and initiatives to improve access to menstrual hygiene products in public spaces, schools, and workplaces, advocating for menstrual equity.
