KONIA – Deutsch-Koreanische Ökumenische Initiative war eine christliche Initiative in Korea, die von 2024 bis 2026 geistliche und soziale Formate für die deutsch-koreanischen und international-englischsprachigen Gemeinschaften in Korea angeboten hat.

Nach eineinhalb Jahren mit mehr als 120 Events und Treffen vollendete sich diese intensive Reise an ihrem Höhepunkt: Zu Ostern 2026 wurde KONIA offiziell aufgelöst, um die Erfolgsgeschichte auf neuen Wegen fortzusetzen.

DIE VISION: EIN GEISTLICH-SOZIALER RAUM

Gegründet von Christian Rabenda und Yung-Hee Yoon am 08. August 2024, dem Tag des Hohen Friedensfests, einem der ältesten ökumenischen Feiertage, verfolgte KONIA die Vision, einen weiten geistlich-sozialen Raum für die deutsch-koreanische Gemeinschaft in Korea zu schaffen. 

Inspiriert von dem griechischen Wort "koinonia" – Gemeinschaft und Teilhabe,  sollte es ein Raum sein, in dem säkulare soziale Aktivitäten wie Picknicke und Elternrunden – angeboten im Geist christlicher Gastfreundschaft, aber offen für alle – und explizit geistliche Formate, wie On- und Offline-Bibelkreise und Andachten, gleichermaßen ihren Platz haben.

RÜCKBLICK: 18 MONATE, 120+ EVENTS

Beginnend mit drei Treffen im September 2024 — einem Hauskreis, einem Picknick und einem Online-Bibelkreis — haben die Initiatoren Christian Rabenda und Yung-Hee Yoon in eineinhalb hochintensiven Jahren mehr als 120 Events und Treffen in mehr als 15 Formaten für die Community erdacht, entwickelt, geplant und durchgeführt:

• Zur einen Hälfte im sozialen Bereich (u.a. mit den PiP-Picknicken, WaT-Spaziergängen und MaP-Austauschrunden).

• Zur anderen Hälfte im geistlichen Bereich (mit The Chosen – Online Watch Parties, Hauskreisen und Passionsimpulsen).

Besondere Highlights der Initiative waren große Familienevents zu Festtagen wie Ostern, Sankt Martin und im Advent — mit bis zu 80 Teilnehmern. Den Abschluss dieser fröhlichen bunten Feste bildete ein Familien-Fasching im Februar 2026. 

Eine große Bereicherung und ein besonderes Geschenk war dabei stets die regelmäßige Kooperation mit der DKG – der deutschsprachigen katholischen Gemeinde in Korea.

EIN GEMEINSAMES PROJEKT

Die unterschiedlichen Interessen, Anliegen und Talente der beiden Leiter ergänzten sich bei KONIA wunderbar: Christian Rabenda übernahm die Leitung des geistlichen Teils von KONIA und verantwortete die visuelle, technische und informationelle Infrastruktur des Projekts; Yung-Hee Yoon war stets der soziale und kulturelle Bereich ein besonders großes Anliegen.

Während Christian Rabenda sich der Vorbereitung von Bibelstudien widmete, theologische Impulse gab, Lieder zusammenstellte, die Verantwortung für Design und Technik trug und sich bei den gemeinsamen Veranstaltungen um operative Aspekte, Musik und die fotografische Dokumentation kümmerte, liebte Yung-Hee Yoon es, sich in die praktische und kreative Ausgestaltung der Familienevents einzubringen, Spiele für die Kinder zu erdenken, Dekoration zu basteln und mit großem logistischen Aufwand saisonale Leckereien aus Deutschland zu besorgen.
Mit MaP baute Yung-Hee Yoon eine einzigartige Austauschrunde für deutschsprachige Eltern in Korea auf und führte sie erfolgreich über insgesamt 26 Ausgaben.

Besonders zeichnete sich KONIA aber dadurch aus, dass es stets ein durch und durch gemeinsames Projekt war: In mehr als 70 Strategie- und Planungstreffen lenkten die beiden Leiter nicht nur den Gesamtkurs, sondern besprachen auch jedes einzelne Angebot gemeinsam. Beide begleiteten jeweils mehr als 120 der insgesamt 128 Veranstaltungen persönlich und gestalteten sie als Gastgeber mit – immer mitgetragen von der regen Teilnahme, der tatkräftigen praktischen Hilfe und dem Vertrauen der Gemeinschaft.

DIE VOLLENDUNG DER REISE

Mit der Zeit wurde deutlich, dass die Vision einer so breit aufgestellten Organisation, die soziale und geistliche Bedürfnisse gleichermaßen deckt, an ihre Grenzen stieß. Es zeigte sich, dass die säkular ausgerichteten sozialen Angebote und die explizit geistlichen Formate voneinander unabhängig mehr Potenzial versprechen.

Daher wurde die 18-monatige gemeinsame Reise mit der offiziellen Auflösung von KONIA am 04. April 2026 vollendet.

NEUE WEGE

Der Name KONIA und die gemeinsame Infrastruktur wurden nach 1,5 intensiven Jahren in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand verabschiedet.

Picknikcke & Soziales
Gesellige Treffen – wie gemeinsame Picknicke und Restaurantbesuche inspiriert von KONIA PiPs und EaTs, aber auch ganz neue Ideen – werden künftig als Privatinitiativen direkt aus der Mitte der gewachsenen Gemeinschaft heraus organisiert. Einen schönen Auftakt macht hierbei ein von Yung-Hee Yoon und Team privat ausgerichtetes Picknick mit Ostereiersuche zu Ostern 2026.

Geistliche Formate
Die explizit geistliche Hälfte von KONIA (u.a. The Chosen – Online Watch Party und Passionsimpulse) wird von Christian Rabenda ohne Unterbrechung weitergeführt und weiterentwickelt und ist nun unter kore.ee erreichbar.

Diese Website (konia.org) dient nun als Archiv, um die gemeinsamen 18 Monate mit den vielen guten Erinnerungen angemessen zu würdigen.

MISSION ERFÜLLT

KONIA hat seine ursprünglichen Vision mehr als erfüllt, sodass dieses wunderbare Kapitel am Karsamstag 2026 dankerfüllt vollendet werden konnte — mit Zuversicht, dass das, was in eineinhalb Jahren gewachsen ist und was viele in der Community so lieb gewonnen haben, in neuen Kapiteln zu noch größerer Frucht reifen kann — ganz im Sinne der Jahreslosung 2026:

 코니아 (KONIA) – 한독 에큐메니컬 이니셔티브는 2024년부터 2026년까지 한국 내 한독 공동체 및 국제 영어권 공동체를 위해 영적·사회적 모임을 제공한 기독교 이니셔티브였습니다.

1년반 동안 120회 이상의 행사와 모임을 진행하며 달려온 이 집중적인 여정은 그 절정에서 완성되었습니다. 2026년 부활절, 코니아는 공식적으로 해산되었으며 새로운 길 위에서 그 성공적인 이야기를 이어갑니다.

비전: 영적-사회적 공간

가장 오래된 에큐메니컬 기념일 중 하나인 평화 축제일을 맞은 2024년 8월 8일, Christian Rabenda 와 Yung-Hee Yoon 님이 공동으로 설립한 코니아는 한국 내 한독 공동체를 위해 폭넓은 영적·사회적 공간을 만들겠다는 비전을 추구했습니다.

친교와 나눔을 뜻하는 헬라어 ‘코이노니아 (koinonia)’ 에서 그 이름의 영감을 받은 이 공간은, 기독교적 환대의 정신을 바탕으로 누구나 참여할 수 있는 피크닉이나 부모 모임 같은 비종교적 친교 활동과, 온·오프라인 성경 공부 및 기도회 같은 명시적인 영적 모임이 동등하게 어우러지는 곳이 되고자 했습니다.

회고: 18개월, 120회+ 행사

2024년 9월 오프라인 성경 공부, 피크닉, 온라인 성경 공부라는 단 세 개의 모임으로 시작하여, 설립자인 크리스티안 라벤다와 Yung-Hee Yoon 님은 1년 반이라는 매우 밀도 높은 시간 동안 공동체를 위해 15개 이상의 포맷으로 120회가 넘는 행사와 모임을 구상, 개발, 기획 및 진행했습니다.

• 절반은 사회적 영역 (PiP 피크닉, WaT 산책, MaP 정보 교류 모임 등) 이었습니다.

• 절반은 영적 영역 (The Chosen 온라인 모임, 하우스크라이스 현장 성경 모임, 수난 묵상 등) 이었습니다.

이 이니셔티브의 특별한 하이라이트는 부활절, 성 마르틴 축일, 대림절과 같은 명절에 최대 80명이 참여했던 대규모 가족 행사였습니다. 이 즐겁고 다채로운 축제의 대미는 2026년 2월에 열린 독일식 가족 카니발이 장식했습니다.

DKG – 독일어권 가톨릭 공동체 (한국) 와의 정기적인 협력은 항상 큰 풍요로움이자 특별한 선물이었습니다.

공동의 프로젝트

두 리더의 서로 다른 관심사와 관점, 그리고 재능은 코니아에서 훌륭한 조화를 이루었습니다. 크리스티안 라벤다는 코니아의 영적 부문 리더십을 맡아 프로젝트의 시각적, 기술적, 정보적 인프라를 책임졌으며, Yung-Hee Yoon 님은 처음부터 사회·문화적 영역에 남다른 애정을 가지고 헌신했습니다.

Christian Rabenda님이 성경 공부 준비에 전념하고, 신학적 메시지를 전하며, 찬양을 선곡하고, 디자인과 기술을 책임지며, 공동 행사에서 운영 측면과 음악, 사진 기록을 담당하는 동안, Yung-Hee Yoon님은 가족 행사의 실용적이고 창의적인 기획에 적극 참여하고, 아이들을 위한 게임을 고안하며, 장식을 만들고, 큰 물류적 수고를 들여 한국에서 구하기 힘든 독일의 계절 간식들을 조달하는 것을 사랑했습니다.

또한 Yung-Hee Yoon 님은 MaP를 통해 한국 내 독일어권 부모들을 위한 독보적인 정보 교류 모임을 구축하여 총 26회에 걸쳐 성공적으로 이끌었습니다.

하지만 코니아가 무엇보다 특별했던 이유는, 이것이 철저한 공동의 프로젝트였다는 점입니다. 70회 이상의 전략 및 기획 회의를 통해 두 리더는 코니아의 전체적인 방향성을 이끌었을 뿐만 아니라, 모든 개별 프로그램을 함께 논의했습니다. 두 사람은 총 128회의 행사 중 120회 이상을 직접 주최자로 참여하여 함께 이끌었으며, 이는 항상 공동체의 적극적인 참여와 헌신적인 실질적 도움, 그리고 신뢰가 있었기에 가능한 일이었습니다.

여정의 완성

시간이 흐르면서, 사회적 요구와 영적 요구를 동등하게 충족시키려는 이토록 폭넓은 조직의 비전이 한계에 도달했다는 것이 분명해졌습니다. 비종교적인 친교 활동과 기독교 명시적인 영적 모임이 서로 독립될 때 오히려 더 큰 잠재력을 발휘할 수 있음이 확인되었습니다.

이에 따라 18개월간의 공동 여정은 2026년 4월 4일 코니아의 공식 해산과 함께 완성되었습니다.

새로운 길

코니아의 이름과 우리가 공유했던 인프라는 1.5년의 집중적인 활동을 마치고 마땅히 누려야 할 은퇴를 맞이하게 되었습니다.

기존의 활동과 포맷들은 분리되어 이제 새로운 환경에서 이어집니다.

피크닉 및 소셜 모임
과거 코니아의 PiP와 EaT에서 영감을 받은 친교 피크닉이나 레스토랑 방문은 물론, 완전히 새로운 아이디어의 행사들 역시 앞으로 성숙한 공동체 내부에서 직접 자발적인 개인 주관 행사로 기획될 것입니다. 그 아름다운 첫 시작으로 2026년 부활절을 맞아 Yung-Hee Yoon님이 공동 주관하는 개인 피크닉 및 부활절 달걀 찾기 행사가 열릴 예정입니다.

기독교 영적 모임
코니아의 명시적인 영적 부문(The Chosen 온라인 모임, 수난 묵상 등)은 Christian Rabenda님이 중단 없이 계속 이끌고 발전시켜 나갈 것이며, 이제 kore.ee 에서 확인하실 수 있습니다.

사명 완수

코니아는 그 원래의 비전을 넘치도록 완수했습니다. 그렇기에 이 멋진 챕터는 2026년 성 토요일에 깊은 감사 속에서 마무리될 수 있었습니다. 지난 1년 반 동안 성장하고 많은 공동체 구성원들이 사랑하게 된 것들이, 새로운 챕터에서 더 큰 열매를 맺을 수 있으리라는 확신과 함께 말입니다. 이는 2026년 올해의 말씀과도 완벽히 일치합니다.

KONIA – German-Korean Ecumenical Initiative was a Christian initiative in Korea that offered spiritual and social formats for the German-Korean and international English-speaking communities in Korea from 2024 to 2026.

After a year and a half with more than 120 events and gatherings, this intensive journey reached its completion at its peak: At Easter 2026, KONIA was officially dissolved for the success stories to be continued on new paths.

THE VISION: A SPIRITUAL-SOCIAL SPACE

Founded by Christian Rabenda and  Yung-Hee Yoon on August 8, 2024, the day of the High Peace Festival, one of the oldest ecumenical holidays, KONIA pursued the vision of creating a broad spiritual and social space for the German-Korean community in Korea.

Drawing inspiration for its name from the Greek word "koinonia" – community and participation, it was meant to be a space, where secular social activities such as picnics and parents' gatherings – offered in the spirit of Christian hospitality, yet open to all – and formats explicitly rooted in Christian practice, such as on- and offline Bible studies and devotionals, equally had their place.

LOOKING BACK: 18 MONTHS, 120+ EVENTS

Starting with three meetings in September 2024 — an offline Bible study, a picnic, and an online Bible study — the founders Christian Rabenda and Yung-Hee Yoon conceived, developed, planned, and hosted for the community more than 120 events and gatherings across more than 15 formats during one and a half very intensive years:

• One half in the social sphere (including the PiP picnics, WaT walks, and MaP exchange rounds).

• The other half in the spiritual sphere (with The Chosen – Online Watch Parties, Bible Studies, and Passion Reflections).

Special highlights of the initiative were the large family events for holidays like Easter, St. Martin's, and Advent — with up to 80 participants. The conclusion of these joyful, colorful celebrations was a German-style family Karneval in February 2026.

A great enrichment and a special gift was always the regular collaboration with the DKG – the German-speaking Catholic community in Korea.

A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT

The different interests, perspectives, and talents of the two leaders complemented each other wonderfully at KONIA: Christian Rabenda assumed leadership of the spiritual section of KONIA and was responsible for the visual, technical, and informational infrastructure of the project; the social and cultural sphere was always a particularly great passion of Yung-Hee Yoon's.

While Christian Rabenda dedicated himself to the preparation of Bible studies, provided theological impulses, compiled songs, was in charge of design and tech, and took care of operations, music, and photographic documentation at joint events, Yung-Hee Yoon loved to get involved in the practical and creative design of the family events, invented games for the children, crafted decorations, and imported rare seasonal treats from Germany with great logistical effort.
With MaP, Yung-Hee Yoon built a unique exchange group for German-speaking parents in Korea and successfully led it through a total of 26 editions.

What particularly distinguished KONIA however, was that it has always been a thoroughly joint project: In more than 70 strategy and planning meetings, the two leaders not only steered the overall course of KONIA but also discussed every single format and gathering together. Both personally attended and co-hosted more than 120 of the 128 events — always carried along by the active participation, energetic practical help, and trust of the community.

THE COMPLETION OF THE JOURNEY

Over time, it became clear that the vision of such a broad-based organization, equally covering social and spiritual needs, was reaching its limits. It became apparent that the secularly oriented social format and the explicitly spiritual formats promised more potential independently of each other.

Therefore, the 18-month joint  journey was completed with the official dissolution of KONIA on April 4, 2026.

NEW PATHS

The name KONIA and the shared infrastructure were sent into a well-deserved retirement after 1.5 intensive years.

The existing activities and formats were disentangled and continued in new contexts:

MaP
The successful MaP online round for German-speaking parents in Korea will be continued without interruption by Yung-Hee Yoon. (Info and sign-up, directly with  Yung-Hee Yoon.)

Picnics & Social Events
Social gatherings – like convial picnics and restaurant visits inspired by KONIA PiPs and EaTs, but also new ideas – will be organized as private initiatives from within the grown community. A wonderful kickoff to this will be a private picnic and Easter egg hunt co-hosted by Yung-Hee Yoon for Easter 2026.

Spiritual Formats
The explicitly spiritual half of KONIA (including The Chosen – Online Watch Party and Passion Reflections) will be continued and further developed without interruption by Christian Rabenda and is now hosted at kore.ee.

This website (konia.org) now serves as an archive to properly honor the shared 18 months and the many good memories.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

KONIA has more than fulfilled its original vision, allowing this wonderful chapter to be completed with gratitude on Holy Saturday 2026 — with the confidence that what has grown over a year and a half and what many in the community have grown so fond of can ripen into even greater fruit in new chapters — entirely in the spirit of the 2026 verse of the year:
