陳振輝教授現任中央研究院之細胞與個體生物學研究所的副研究員,目前致力於再生醫學及組織發育生物學,陳教授團隊利用斑馬魚作為模式生物,探討脊索動物在附肢再生中關鍵調節因子以及其在機制中所扮演的角色。並且開發了名為「palmskin」的細胞標記技術,使目標細胞會產生不同比例的紅、藍、綠螢光蛋白,讓每一顆細胞都會有不同的顏色組合,以便於研究與追蹤斑馬魚的發育過程。在 2022 年 4 月時發表於《自然》(Nature)的一篇論文,便是以上述技術研究斑馬魚的表皮發育,意外發現除了有絲分裂、減數分裂以外的第三種細胞分裂方式「無合成分裂」(asynthetic fission),為再生醫學、細胞生物學、與發育學開啟了嶄新的康莊大道。

探討為何只有少數脊索動物(如蠑螈、斑馬魚)具有強大的再生能力。陳教授選用斑馬魚作為模式生物,開發新型的細胞標記技術與影像平台,結合大尺度與多維度的細胞分析行為和遺傳學方法,系統性地分析再生細胞行為及其中的分子機制。最終期望能將研究成果應用在增強人類組織與器官的再生能力。
