ALEXANDRA SECONDARY COLLEGE- REFLECTION GARDEN

Old buildings were removed from the school grounds and with no funding remaining, the extent of the landscaping was a bit of grass seed thrown over rough ground (still with the truck wheel ruts there). Together with staff , parents and kids a committee formed and grants were applied for to complete the landscaping. Luckily we were successful and the Reflection Garden project could begin. This part of the school had a lot of traffic so the design needed to cater for this as well as the thing that was high on the kids list... they wanted green grass where they could sit in the shade and listen to performances on the near by stage at lunchtimes. we achieved this with meandering paths and mounded grass areas planted with deciduous trees, as well as some areas with natural rock seating. Driving past it is wonderful to see groups of teenagers 'hanging out' in this garden.
