TTLC

What is TTLC?

TTLC stands for Transformational Teaching and Learning Conference. This conference is put on by the Center for Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University. The mission statement for this conference is below:

"[To] Celebrate and promote a culture of teaching excellence and innovation at Texas A&M University."

This conference hosts professors and faculty from all over the world that work at an A&M campus and invite them to Texas A&M University for an equipping conference.

My Role

During this event I worked at the registration table. I checked in people by giving them their name tag, general direction for the conference and answered any question I could for them. It was a simple role, but I loved getting to talk and be the first face the participants see. I felt it was an honor meeting professors and educators from all over the world!

Handing out name tags for participants.

This was my view of the table where I was sitting.

What did I learn?

My role for this event was simple, but what it taught me the most is that events are always evolving. You can never expect it to be perfect. Each year there is always something that can be improved/changed from the last. As an event planner, you need to be prepared to make changes based on your professional evaluations and random issues that come up during your event. I also learned that the people in this department are very kind!
