Circulation Policies and Procedures

Formats

Physical books eBooks are available for checkout to JRMS students and staff. Instructional materials such as novel class sets are only available to teachers and staff. Reference materials are available to students and staff for use within the library.

Number of Items

Students may check out up to five (5) books at one time. They may reserve books to be checked out and delivered to them after items are returned to the library.

Time Limitations

Staff may check out materials with a due date at the end of the school year, but the librarian will periodically send reminders of checked out materials. 

Books checked out by students will be due three weeks from the date of checkout.

Overdue Items and Notices

The JRMS library will not charge students overdue fines, but reminders of overdue materials will be sent to students through their RLA teacher.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Students will be held responsible to compensate the library for materials that are lost or are damaged beyond repair. The librarian will send notices of the amount required to cover the cost of an item to the student and their guardian(s).

eBook Circulation

Students enrolled in Jarrell ISD have access to eBooks and audiobooks through Sora, linked through the JRMS Destiny Discover website. They may check out up to three (3) items at a time through Sora, and may place up to three (3) items on hold at any one time. Titles borrowed through Sora are due three weeks from the date of checkout.

Inter-library Loans

Students and staff can complete an online form to request materials that are not available in the JRMS library but are available in another JISD library. The JRMS librarian will coordinate with another campus librarian to have the requested material sent to JRMS. Items must be returned to their original campus following the established JRMS time limitation policy.
