Standard 8 - Collaborative Relationships – The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
Artifact Description: In this artifact, I attended a PLC meeting where the social worker shared important information regarding the social support that the students and parents can receive.
IPTS Connection: The competent teacher understands schools as organizations within the larger community context (8A). The social worker shared vital information for the teachers to become aware when PUNS can be used other services available for the student and family.
Learning Description: I learned so much from what the social worker shared in the PLC meeting. As a special educator, it's important to understand the services available and requirements that are needed to qualify for the services.
Artifact Description: The artifact was shared by the school coordinator. The artifact is a student led IEP that they can share with the team when its time for their annual review. In this artifact, I made one of myself to give them an example of the expectation upon completing this fun activity. The artifact has sections that specify their strengths , weaknesses, hobbies, team members, services they received and fun activities done throughout each semester. This artifact informs the parents and team members of the services he receives and the engagement he has throughout the school building.
IPTS Connection: The competent teacher initiates collaboration with others to create opportunities that enhance student learning (8L). uses digital tools and resources to promote collaborative interactions (8M). Student led IEP's are teacher made google slides were students just fill in the information under each category. This artifact is designed in all student levels to facilitate their understanding when completing.
Learning Description: Before leaving student teaching, most students were almost done completing their student led IEP's. This artifact was effective for them to use their creativity and share the wonderful experience in the classroom. I plan to use this artifact to keep students engaged and share their wonderful experiences here at school.
