Next Dollar Up

For 5D understands disciplinary and interdisciplinary instructional approaches and how they relate to life and career experiences I use the next dollar up strategy. This is a strategy used in teaching money skills to individuals with disabilities or those who struggle with basic math concepts. It involves rounding up the cost of an item to the next dollar to simplify making purchases and providing exact change. In the context of Next Dollar Up the disciplinary instruction in mathematics would focus on teaching fundamental concepts such as counting, addition, subtraction, and money skills. This approach would break down each step of the Next Dollar Up strategy, ensuring the individual understands the reasoning behind rounding up to the next dollar and how to count out the correct amount of money.
