I believe in diversity and inclusion in the classroom. I will work with students, faculty, and staff regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, socioeconomic status, or country of origin. We should make an everyday effort to build a community of people with various backgrounds and life experiences, free of discrimination based on racial and ethnic origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, social economic status, or religious belief. If students, faculty, and staff are committed to and are engaged in the learning environment and promote the standards for a diverse workplace, then everyone should be given equal opportunity. I will make reasonable accommodations and modifications involving materials, and interactive instruction making sure all my students have the equality they need to learn in my classroom. As I move forward in my career, I intend to continue to include issues of equity and inclusion in my teaching. I commit to attending either a seminar, conference, and/or personal developments about diversity, equality, and inclusion to learn more about the intersectionality of race, gender, and sexual orientation in the classroom and to confront my own biases and the biases in education to improve inclusivity with my students in my classroom.
