I use ClassDojo which emphasizes 8D understands the benefits, barriers, and techniques involved in parent and family collaborations. ClassDojo facilitates real-time communication between students parents and I, leading to better understanding and support for students' learning needs. Parents can stay informed about classroom activities, assignments, and student progress, leading to increased involvement in their child's education. ClassDojo's features giving positive feedback and rewards can reinforce positive behavior both at school and at home, creating a cohesive learning environment. I can share updates, announcements, and resources instantly, keeping parents engaged and informed without relying solely on traditional methods like newsletters or parent-teacher meetings.
Pre-IEP Meetings
One way that I 8S participates in the design and implementation of individualized instruction for students with special needs (i.e., IEPs, IFSP, transition plans, Section 504 plans), ELLs, and students who are gifted is through Pre-IEP meetings. Pre-IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings are crucial for ensuring that all stakeholders participate in the design and implementation of individualized instruction for students with special needs, English Language Learners (ELLs), and gifted students. We collect relevant data and assessments related to the student's academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Determining the student's strengths, areas for improvement, learning goals, accommodations, modifications, and support services needed. We have everyone meet in the conference, this includes special education teachers, BCBAs, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and counselors. We collaboratively establish specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals and objectives for the student's learning and development. I establish clear channels for ongoing communication, collaboration, progress monitoring, and regular updates among team members.
