Online teachers must be able to create learning opportunities that allow for both collaboration and self-directed learning in addition to more traditional teacher centered learning. The teacher must be more of a facilitator than a lecturer. They must be able to offer instruction in a variety of modalities to meet the needs of all learners.
I was able to gain experience in this area through my course work at Millersville by creating one totally online unit during the last course of the program. I also experienced implementing a hybrid rotational model in my current teaching position. In the Millersville unit, I was able to provide a number of opportunities for student collaboration as well as or individual work. This is also the case in my current hybrid class.
To show how I have met this standard, I have included access to the online unit that I created on problem solving using diagrams. To access the course, one would need to join schoology and enroll in my course using the access code D3788-GB95G. I've included a screenshot of an individual assignment and a partner assignment. I've also included a link to a series of blog posts that I wrote about my experience in implementing hybrid learning in my current face-to-face placement.
