After an instructor led discussion that reviews ecological concepts associated with biodiversity, students will investigate the relationships that populations and communities have with fire by reading technical “research briefs” developed from primary literature sources.

To complete this activity, follow the instructions in "Steps 1-4" below.


Step 1: Open this "Fire and Biodiversity" student worksheet (link) and make your own copy. Your student worksheet Google document will be submitted using a Google form when the activity has been completed (Step 4). Complete Part A of the student worksheet using the slideshow below as a reference.

Step 2: Population Ecology - Select ONE of the Oak Woodlands and Forests Fire Consortium's [OWFFC] research briefs below to complete "Part B" of the student worksheet.


Step 3: Community Ecology - Select ONE of the Oak Woodlands and Forests Fire Consortium's [OWFFC] research briefs below to complete "Part C" of the student worksheet.


Step 4: Worksheet Submission - Submit your completed student worksheet using the "Submission Link" beneath the information for the correct instructor/class/school. If your instructor provided you with a different submission process, be sure to follow those instructions.
