Monitored Burn Objectives:

• Reduce leaf litter and dead/dormant surface level fuel loading by approximately 75%.

• Inflict overall stem mortality with the size classes as follows:

  • • < 2" - 25-50%

    • 2-3" - 50%

    • > 3" - 15%

• Consume 100- and 1,000-hour fuels completely where feasible.

These lessons provide students with a basic introduction to geographic information systems [GIS]. Google Maps is used, so most students should have the capability to create their own GIS maps.
