The Matchstick Woodland

Students use a matchstick model of the cross timbers to investigate how fire behavior in a wooded area can be influenced by fuel density/continuity, wind, and slope. This activity is part of the Oak Woodlands and Forests Fire Consortium's "Fire in the Cross Timbers" fire curriculum.
