2015-0327 JCI North Jersey bags the Hampton Whetsell Memorial Award for Most Outstanding new Local Organization
Hampton A. Whetsell III was a young South Carolina Jaycee whose name is memorialized through one of JCI USA’s national awards.
Whetsell was president of the Bowman, South Carolina Junior Chamber (Jaycees). Remarkably, he had been a Jaycee for only about five months, but during that short period he distinguished himself in chapter growth. At the JCI USA Annual Meeting in Memphis, he received the national “Chapter Pacesetters” award for achieving the largest chapter extension in his community-size category—113 members in a community of 850–2,500 people. (JCI USA)
On August 18, 1989, Whetsell was killed in an automobile accident while returning home after working on a Jaycee chapter extension. A contemporary Phi Delta Theta notice identified him as Hampton Alva Whetsell III, age 25, a partner with his father in Four-Holes Farm, president of the Bowman Jaycees, and president of the Orangeburg County Dairy Herd Improvement Association. (That source records his death as August 19, while JCI USA gives August 18.) (Phi Delta Theta Archive)
His legacy within the Jaycees is the Hampton Whetsell III Memorial Award, now presented by JCI USA to the Most Outstanding New Local Organization—essentially recognizing outstanding new Jaycee chapters for their activities and programming during their first year of affiliation. Winners can advance to competition at the JCI Conference of the Americas and potentially the JCI World Congress. (JCI USA)
So, in JCI/Jaycee history, Hampton Whetsell III is remembered as a promising young chapter president whose exceptional membership-building work and death while performing Jaycee extension work led JCI USA to name its national outstanding-new-chapter award in his memory.

2015-0302 AGT Fundraiser
March 2, 2015 - Newark, NJ. JCI North Jersey's Fundraiser in March included watching America's Got Talent.
JCI North Jersey members, family, friends, and guests, enjoyed a day of watching different individuals materialize their first step in the big entertainment stage as four judges screened their talents. While the Jaycees and friends were having fun (for free ), AGT donated a good sum to the Jaycee chapter for their participation as guests for the day.
Check out the fun day! We had a team in the afternoon, and another different team for the night slot.
(Thanks to Project Chair Shine Wann for putting this together and for having the most number of guests in the afternoon slot. Thanks to the Andes-David team - Joyce Andes-David and Arman David for having the most guests in the evening slot)
And we want to thank each and everyone who came to join us. The proceeds for this fundraiser will go to the various projects of the chapter to nurture the leadership of the young professionals.—

Jan 10, 2015 - Philadephia, PA. JCI North Jersey met more than 50 individuals representing their own JCI chapter in the East Coast of USA. These young professionals hailed from Florida, Philadelphia, Maryland, Virgina, Connecticut, and New York. It was a full day of training on how we can achieve a good review of sustainable solutions for our community and how we can truly grow as a chapter, not just in numbers, but as a healthy growing organization with fun and meaningful activities that caters the young age group of 18 to the getting-more-experienced group of 30+ till 40.
