JCI North Jersey is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit leadership organization dedicated to providing opportunities for young people aged 18 to 40 to create lasting, positive change in their communities and around the world. Through leadership development, community service, and personal growth, we empower young active citizens to lead with purpose and impact.
JCI North Jersey is a local chapter operating within the structure of Junior Chamber International and is aligned with the following entities, presented by year of establishment:
Our Jurisdiction & Affiliation
1915 – JCI USA (Junior Chamber International USA),
Founded in the United States of America, JCI USA is the original organization from which the Junior Chamber movement began. It laid the foundation for leadership development and civic engagement, and later played a key role in the global expansion of the organization.
1944 – JCI (Junior Chamber International),
Officially established in Mexico City in 1944 by delegates from eight countries, JCI is the global nonprofit organization that unites young active citizens worldwide. JCI provides a platform for leadership development, international cooperation, and sustainable community impact.
1945 –JCI New Jersey,
Founded in 1945, JCI New Jersey—formerly known as the Junior Chamber of Commerce (New Jersey) and the New Jersey Jaycees—serves as the state-level organization supporting local chapters throughout New Jersey.
Through these affiliations, JCI North Jersey remains connected to a rich legacy of leadership, service, and global citizenship while advancing its mission at the local level.
Below is the structure of Junior Chamber International presented by its way of jurisdiction:
Guided by the Jaycee Creed, JCI North Jersey fosters a spirit of active citizenship and service to humanity. We, as young leaders ourselves aged between 18 to 40, provide other young leaders aged between 18 to 40 with opportunities to develop their skills, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
Since its founding in 2014, our chapter has been committed to nurturing young leaders by providing opportunities for personal growth, civic responsibility, and meaningful service.
As the chapter celebrates its 12th Anniversary in July this year 2026, we continue to mark an encouragement of service and commitment to community development among young professionals.
Our diverse initiatives include leadership training programs, educational seminars, financial wellness workshops, and partnerships with other organizations to uplift underserved communities. Every project we undertake is designed to inspire, equip, and mobilize young individuals to lead with purpose and make a tangible difference both locally and globally.
We invite you to connect with us — whether you're interested in upcoming events, membership opportunities, or ways to get involved.

JCI North Jersey emerged as the renaissance chapter of the Junior Chamber movement in the State of New Jersey in 2014. At a time when many young individuals were exploring the wide range of leadership organizations across the state, there was no readily accessible JCI chapter for those seeking to engage in hands-on leadership development and civic service. In response to this need, ten dedicated young leaders came together in 2014 with a shared vision—to organize a new chapter and revive the Jaycees presence in New Jersey. Their commitment, initiative, and willingness to lead laid the foundation for what would become JCI North Jersey.
Since its founding, JCI North Jersey has remained active in organizing impactful community projects, delivering leadership training, and creating meaningful networking opportunities for young individuals throughout the state. Working in close collaboration with its state organization, JCI New Jersey, the chapter continues to empower young active citizens to grow as leaders and changemakers.
Guided by the principles on which JCI was founded in the United States of America, JCI North Jersey remains deeply rooted in the organization’s legacy while advancing its mission for future generations.
The JCI North Jersey chapter also produced national leaderships
National Vice President in 2017, Ria Serrano
National Vice President in 2020, Joyce Andes-David
Candidate for National Vice President in 2021, Stevenson Van Derodar

🏛️ Our Philosophy – “One Year to Lead”
Rooted in the encouragement and wisdom of our predecessors, the “One Year to Lead” philosophy provides members with meaningful opportunities to serve in various roles within the organization. Through this experience, members are empowered to explore leadership in action—learning to navigate responsibilities, challenges, and moments of growth.
Through diverse programming, members gain hands-on experience in managing projects, developing budgets, executing promotional efforts, and leading committees composed of individuals with diverse ideas, personalities, and lived experiences. Each role invites members to grow in self-awareness, adaptability, and collaboration as they work alongside both seasoned leaders and emerging task-takers.
While not every member’s journey leads to the role they expect to partake, each experience holds lasting value. Serving in different capacities equips individuals with skills, confidence, and perspective that shape their personal well-being and prepare them to become leaders in their own right—whether in other organizations, businesses, community initiatives, or professional spaces beyond JCI.
Ultimately, the journey is shaped by each individual’s willingness to learn, lead, and work as part of a team—embracing challenges while discovering the possibilities that leadership can unlock.
We are excited to welcome this year’s elected Board Members as they take up the torch and step forward to lead with purpose, commitment, and vision
