Manyara Region gets its name from Lake Manyara, one of the major lakes formed in ancient times by the Great Rift Valley. It is the only region in Tanzania divided into two by the Great Rift Valley. This region serves as a significant water source for wildlife and is an essential part of the ecosystems of Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park. Additionally, Lake Manyara is the country's largest breeding ground for tens of thousands of flamingos.

After breakfast, you will drive up to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Take a few minutes for registration at the gate, and then continue driving up to the Crater view point. Here, you can make a brief stop to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Crater floor from above and take some pictures before descending the 600-meter high walls into the Crater floor for a full day of game driving.
Ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as the "Eden of Africa" due to its magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife. It serves as a natural wildlife sanctuary where large mammals and plains animals find their home. You will have your lunch in the Crater floor. During your game drive, you can expect to spot herds of wildebeest, eland, zebra, hippos, African elephants, gazelles, and the rare black rhinoceros in their natural habitat.
One of the main attractions of this huge caldera is the dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and the elusive leopard, which requires a sharp eye to spot. All of these animals are confined within the 600-meter-high volcanic walls and can be viewed from very close range. You will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the Crater. It is one of the main features of the Crater, and you can usually spot large flocks of flamingos, many aquatic birds, and hippos there.
In the evening, before sunset, you will drive to Rhino Lodge Ngorongoro.

Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that meanders through its landscape, is a sanctuary that plays a vital role in supporting wildlife during the dry season. The river serves as a lifeline, drawing countless herds of plains migrants and providing a source of permanent brackish water.
During the dry season, animals migrate to Tarangire from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron. This natural phenomenon dramatically increases the resident population of wildlife, including wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephants, hartebeest, buffalo, and fringe-eared Oryx. The Tarangire River's pools become essential watering holes for these thirsty migrants. Elephants, in particular, use their impressive digging abilities to access underground streams in the dry riverbed, ensuring their survival during the arid months. This park's unique ecological features make it a significant wildlife destination in Tanzania.
