After breakfast, we'll depart from Janibichi Adventures Ltd and drive to Rundugai Cultural Tourism Village, which is located 25 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport. To get there, you'll drive through the roundabout to Boma and then turn south to the village office, just after crossing the railway. For visitors coming from Moshi, the village is 38 km away. While there are different tour activities in this village, visitors can enjoy stunning views of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Probably the most well-known activities are the Maasai herding their cattle and closely following their tribal culture, along with the Pare and Chagga people, who all have different traditions and ways of life. When you arrive at the village, the tour starts at Kijiweni sub-village, which hosts the Maasai Market on Mondays.
The tour will proceed to the home of a highly respected midwife who will explain how she works for the community. It will then continue to the village herbalist to learn about different traditional medicines provided by the herbalist for various diseases. You will also visit local weavers to gain experience in weaving various products such as mats and baskets.
On the other side of Majengo sub-village, you will encounter Pare and Chaga farms where different irrigation fields, including rice fields, onion fields, and various vegetable crops like okra, eggplants, and tomatoes, are mostly grown for local consumption by the community. The tour will also take you to Kikuletwa Hot Spring for swimming and then proceed to the lunch site. After lunch, we'll drive back to Kilimanjaro Airport to catch your flight back home.
