Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Zion Gates Foundation representative will meet you, pick you up, and transfer you to Zion Gates Foundation hostel. If you arrive early, after a short rest and freshening up, you will receive a brief information about the tour.

This day is for your acclimatization. After adjusting the bikes, your guide will ride with you along the lower slopes of the volcano and around town, covering a distance of 19.3 to 40.2 kilometers.

The route follows uneven paths, mainly crossing the farmland of the Chagga people. A long climb will take you to Marangu, one of the gateway points to Kilimanjaro. You can spot banana and coffee plantations as well as small villages along the way.
Towards the end, a 12.9-kilometer downhill ride brings us back into savannah country, leading to a beautiful lodge at Lake Chala. Here, you can enjoy birding and game viewing on foot. This part of the journey includes a 70-kilometer ascent.

Continuing further north in an anti-clockwise direction around the volcano, in the higher regions, you will witness the water and soil-saving farming practices of the locals. You will ride close to the Kenyan border, gradually ascending to higher altitudes. The final 9.6 kilometers are on a tarred road and quite steep. In the afternoon, you will arrive at a cozy chalet, which serves as one of the starting points for those heading to the mountain. If you'd like to experience a taste of what it's like, you can go for a 66-kilometer walk.

You will cross the northern ridge of Kilimanjaro, reaching the highest point of the tour at 6,300 feet. Our tires may face challenges due to the presence of large acacia thorns. During the last kilometers, you might have the opportunity to spot some wild game.
Dinner and overnight at Maasai Olpopongi Lodge.
In the morning, you will ride between Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. During this hilly and dusty ride, you might have the chance to spot elephants, zebras, antelopes, and buffalo.
Dinner and overnight at Mkuru Eco Tented Camp.
Riding through the acacia and shrub landscape, you will head back to Moshi. A steep climb will bring you back into Chagga territory. Banana and coffee plantations will interchange with small settlements before you descend to the welcoming Zion Gates Foundation hostel. In the evening, you can celebrate the ride with some cold Kilimanjaro beer. Dinner and overnight at Zion Gates Foundation hostel on a half-board basis.

After breakfast, join the guide for a walk through Moshi. Then, you will be transfered to the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
