I was inspired by a design online to create a gradient design with blurred shapes. I'd imagine this is an image for a website or blog about writing.
Contrast: The main subject interrupts the natural lines created by the shapes. This brings power into their stance and creates focus upon them.
Repetition: The color of the words mimics the color of the person in the image. Additionally, I choose a very strong font with large openings to mimic the curvatures of the background shapes.
Alignment/lines: I love following lines in images, so the text is placed right in the sightline of the subject. Additionally, the background shapes leave an opening for the subject's sight, furthering the effect of sight creating power.
Proximity: The words are obviously kept near each other, but I also made a descending alignment to continue that line of sight discussed above.
Color: I created a complementary color palette with two different gradients and shapes. The calm felt from the purple in conjunction with the energy of the oranges is on purpose. This is meant to emphasize the multi-purpose power of words, they can both excite and calm.
