Teton Gravity Research is a ski media company. I imagine this design as a cover for a portfolio of their best photographs.
Contrast: Between the title, subhead, and body fonts, there is a healthy contrast. The title uses a bold sans serif decorative font, the caption a modern slab serif, and the body is just a different weight of the title, but still contrasts with color. Additionally, color is used to highlight and contrast "Featuring."
Repetition: Repeated use of the same color palette throughout creates consistency among the elements. The title and the body text are the same font which creates repetition
from the top and bottom.
Alignment: A strong left alignment is used to keep things simple, but also make a bolder statement.
Proximity: By bringing together the title with the caption and the subhead with the body, there are only two elements on the page. This keeps things simple and readable.
Fonts: I chose a decorative font in combination with a modern font because the two have strong contrast. While the decorative font is bold sans-serif, the modern font has lots of line weight variance and slab serifs. These properties make the two fonts contrast strongly with one another. While all-caps is typically not recommended, it works here to create a strong line on which the image rests.
Colors: I used Adobe color wheel to generate a complementary color palette. The palette allowed me to use cool purples as a majority and a subtle red as an accent. This corroborates Robin William's recommendation to use more cool colors to balance out the intensity of warmth. The entire palette leans into shades of purple and red which perpetuates the dark theme of the photograph. The original photograph includes more blue than what is seen here, the cooler tones were modified towards purple to lean into the calming and quiet feeling invoked by the photograph.

This week, I was working on two designs simultaneously, while I think the Teton Gravity Research design proves my photoshop skills better, I prefer this design.
