I have nothing against the flight industry, nor do I want to cause them to lose any business, I just found this image and this was where the design ended up going. I imagine this could be used to remind people there is some risk in flying, maybe it could be printed and used in an airline safety department to remind employees what they are working to prevent.
I wanted to create a design that incorporates the lines of the image. The baseline draws a line to the tail of the plane at the edge. This emphasizes the plane's path into darkness and furthers the purpose of the image. Then, I used frames to modify the shapes of some added images to mimic the shape of lightning. All of this perpetuates a stormy and dangerous line drawn between the plane and lightning.
Contrast: The two lightning images add some color and contrast to the otherwise fairly monotone image.
Repetition: I use the same font throughout to add to the simplicity of the design. The images are canted to mimic the theme of lightning and storms.
Alignment: The images begin with the same left alignment as the title text. Additionally, the subtext has a descending diagonal alignment that follows the line created by the lower shape.
Proximity: Subtext and title text are kept near each other to draw connection.
