Professor Takashi Hashimoto contributed the section “Language Use,” which forms part of Chapter 12, “The Evolution of the Human Mind and Society,” to the newly published Encyclopedia of Anthropology, edited by the Anthropological Society of Nippon and published by Maruzen Publishing. The book is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. [2026/7/1]
The research proposal submitted by Liya Zhu (M2) was selected in the first call for proposals for the FY2026 AI for Science–Driven Scientific Research Innovation Program, “SPReAD: Support Program for Emerging and Advanced Research Challenges in AI for Science.” The title of the research project is “Development of an AI-Assisted Analytical Platform for Capturing the Productive Potential of Meaning Misalignments in Multilingual and Intercultural Interaction.” [2026/6/28]

Professor Takashi Hashimoto gave an online presentation at the 21st ICET Seminar on June 11, 2026, entitled “The Role of Recursive Coupling in Linguistic Communication: The Abduction Hypothesis of Intention Inference and Its Empirical Investigation.” [2026/6/12]
Ibuki Iwamura (D2) gave a poster presentation titled “Underspecification prevents linguistic structure in cultural evolution (Ibuki Iwamura and Takashi Hashimoto)” at EVOLANG2026, the International Conference on the Evolution of Language (April 7–10, 2026, Plovdiv, Bulgaria), on April 8, 2026. We went for a cherry blossom walk. This year, we walked from Tsurugi Station to Shirayama Hime Shrine, enjoyed iwana for lunch, and admired the cherry blossoms at the Arboretum. [2026/4/15]
