Music for St Fagans National Museum of History's Halloween Nights 2025
Written in collaboration with RWCMD composer Micah Hedges, Lord of Wild Things is a soundscape composition originally created to accompany the 2025 'Halloween Nights' events at Cardiff's historic open-air St Fagans Museum. The piece describes Cernunnos, a Celtic god associated with the cycle of life and death. Layers of natural ambience - rustling leaves, animal sounds in the distance, creaking trees, branches snapping every now and again - are intertwines with deep, earthy tones, low drones, wooden and animalistic textures. Ritualistic and mythic motifs (drum beats, horn-like sounds, whispers, howls, hunting calls), are interspersed throughout, as tension builds and releases but is never far away. Above all, the music has a sense of presence - as if the forest itself is alive and watching.
