since the 1st bay summer project requires so so much work, I thought it would be a really cool idea to make a recording of the entire project. however A normal time lapse just wouldn't work. I wanted a time lapse that would automatically stop and start the recording when people entered or exited the room. so that's exactly what I did! I bought a Raspberry Pi, a motion sensor, and a small, touchscreen monitor.

At the end of the six months of timelapsing I took the SD card out to discover it had cracked as I took it out from the Raspberry PI. I was devastated because I was super excited to see the end result.
While there were many steps I could have taken to avoid this from happening I didn't think about this single point of failure. I learned to build redundancies into my future projects to prevent catastrophic failure like this from happening again.
