The preseason is the time we have to get new members acclimated to our team and ready to build the robot after new-years. Since our club is no-experiance required we have a lot to teach our new members!
I assisted our mentors with facilitating tool training in order to make sure all our members — new and old — knew how to safely use all the tools in our shop.
My first lessons to my teammates were intended to help them understand how to use onshape to create sketches and assemblies according to specified dimensions.
In this project I had my teamates design parts that need to interact with given interfaces. For example, I told one of my teamates to create a Collet and endmill holder for our CNC machine and they designed the rest on their own. Aftery they finished their design I took a look at it and made a couple minor ajustmants.
I had the newest members of our team assemble a simple drivetrain from a kit almost entirely on their own!
Next we set to work assembling the actual robot's swerve drivetrain.
