Creativity is one of the three CAS strands which are assigned to CAS projects/experiences. Creativity involves the arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking. Typically, creativity projects involve creating a final product such as a website, bracelet, or painting.
Selecting the creativity strand for your CAS project/experience will add creativity-related questions to your CAS Questions reflection form on ManageBac that are obligatory to answer.
TIP: Creativity CAS experiences are often paired with the following learning outcomes: Strength & Growth, Initiative & Planning, Commitment & Perseverance. Do they apply to your experience?
Examples of creativity CAS projects/experiences are those which involve a final product such as a new song learned on a piano, a bracelet made from scratch, or a painting. It is important to ensure that the project is challenging for the student. Being unique and creating a product based on personal interests and hobbies will help the student to be motivated to complete their goal for the experience. With this said, it is important not to confuse this information with choosing an experience in a field the student is very familiar with. It is still important to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone by trying something new.
TIP: An example from the International Baccalaureate Organization for a creativity CAS experience can be found HERE.
